DAY 77 - GRANDVAUX to LAUSANNE (Sunday 2 July)

We didn't have far to walk today, but with numerous stops for morning tea, lunch, bird-watching, swimming, etc, it took us all day to do it.
We were very slow travellers today
We started the day with a steep descent to the lake.
From our accommodation we went downhill . . .
. . . towards Lake Geneva
through the vineyards
The path hugged the lake for some distance.
We were walking very close to the lake
We followed the lake shore through Lutry and Pully, and on to Ouchy.
Along Lake Geneva to Ouchy
We treated ourselves to a fondue lunch in Ouchy.
We found a place for lunch in Ouchy
We ordered the fondue

After lunch, we headed for one of Lausanne's lakeside beaches. There were loads of people enjoying the summer sunshine down by the lake.
We have not encountered many long-distance walkers on our trip, but we met one today on the way to the beach. We stopped for a chat - he was a Frenchman just starting out on the Via Francigena, hoping to reach Rome in about 55 days.

After a couple of us braved the not-too-warm waters of the lake, we walked up through Lausanne to our accommodation.
Through the streets of Lausanne
For the third time this trip (after Amiens and Reims), we have a view of a Gothic cathedral from our accommodation. We enjoyed seeing it in the changing light as the sun went down - a wonderful end to another wonderful day on the road.
Once again, we have enjoyed special views from our accommodation. This time it's Lausanne cathedral and rooftops
