Today's walk took us from Interlaken along the Panorama Rundweg Thunersee (panoramic path around Lake Thun) to Spiez. The walk around the lake involved quite a lot of climbing, with mountain, lake, forest and farmland views all day.

The path started out by the railway station, and followed the train and car corridor west from Interlaken for a few kilometres. It then headed inland, climbing above the lakeside village of Därligen into more peaceful countryside.

The way out was through the train station |

And then next to the road and rail lines along the narrow corridor between mountain and river |

Along the way we saw this group of school students on a cycling excursion |

It wasn't too long before the path left the road and headed inland |

A bit of climbing was rewarded with this view of Lake Thun from our breakfast bench |
The path kept on climbing for quite a while. It is called a Panorama Path because of the wonderful panoramas that open out as you walk along. Of course, this entails a bit of uphill walking.

There were a few highlights on the way. We had been noticing Alpine strawberries along the paths for the last few weeks, but they were not ripe enough to eat. Today they were.

The wildflowers were also blooming along the way.

A major attraction along the way is a hanging bridge across a chasm. We were looking forward to seeing it (it is featured in all the tourist promotions for this walk), and it didn't disappoint.

We had a lunch break at a panoramic picnic spot, then climbed some more for more panoramic views.

Just a bit more climbing to the day's high point |
From there it was all downhill (more or less) through Krattigen to Lake Thun.

The path then hugs the lake as it goes through Faulensee and on to Spiez, our destination for the day.

Poem of the Day:
DIBBLE DABBLE
Dibble dabble
Wiggle waggle
Walkers want to play
In the clear blue lake by the castle
walls near the end of an arduous day
Splish splash
Flippity flash
Aussies say G'day
To the slivery sunbeams all around and
the peace found by the bay
