It was a fairly straightforward day's walking today after all the excitement of yesterday - 31 kilometres through gently undulating countryside, with not a Joan of Arc to be seen.

The first ten kilometres involved a long stretch on a fairly busy road. Fortunately, there was a small verge for us to walk on. We left the road at Rouvres-la-Chétive, and had our first rest stop for the day in the village.

Rouvres-la-Chétive - not a lot there, but we did see our first Camino sign for the day. |
The next part of the day's walk was on the GR714, the walking path we were on for a while yesterday. This section of it followed a couple of country roads to the nearby village of Sandaucourt. We found a well-positioned bench there to serve as our picnic spot.

The last part of the day's walk was back on the road. There was a bit of excitement when the road we had wanted to take was closed for roadworks. The detour would have added a further couple of kilometres to the day's walk, so we decided to try our luck in charming the workmen into letting us through.

Road closed ahead. Could be a problem. |

But we managed to sweet-talk our way through |
We were now only a short distance from the spa town of Vittel, our day's destination. We walked past the spa complex to arrive at our accommodation.

The route looks fabulous. Doing well you two.
ReplyDeleteWe are enjoying the variety and it works well combining the walking paths with minor roads. Sometimes we need to go on a busier road for a short distance but so far drivers have been very courteous.
